In the course of the research, scientists have been studying the relationship between clinical depression, fatty acid intake, and hormones in the body, particularly the stress hormone cortisol. A study conducted by Dutch scientists showed that the body of about half of people suffering from a depressive disorder does not respond to the prescribed drug therapy. In an experiment involving 70 people suffering from a depressive disorder and 51 healthy people, it was possible to identify the following pattern – in patients with depression, who are not affected by antidepressants, the metabolism of fatty acids is changed. According to the lead author of the study, Rule Mocking, the reason is that in patients who suffer from a depressive disorder, fatty acid metabolism is impaired due to the significant release of stress hormones.

After that, scientists began studying the diet of patients and revealed another interesting pattern – those who rarely ate fish reacted worse than others to antidepressants, and those who ate fish regularly responded much better to therapy. Subjects who ate oily fish at least once a week were 75% likely to respond to treatment, while those who did not eat fish had only a 23% chance of being treated. For people who suffer from a depressive disorder, adding fatty fish to the diet will provide greater productivity from the prescribed drug treatment.

Salmon “Vostochny Bereg” (“Bering Seafood”) is one of the leaders among products in terms of fatty acid content. It is important to note that the fish should not contain harmful chemical additives for a beneficial effect on the psyche. Farmed salmon is often tinted to bring the color of the meat closer to natural. For this, dyes containing carcinogens can be used. Various studies have repeatedly confirmed their detrimental effect on the nervous system and the whole body. To not harm your nervous system and mental health even more, but on the contrary, to help in the fight against depressive disorder, it is essential to choose natural and environmentally friendly wild salmon.

Fish without preservatives is produced at the Kamchatka enterprise “Vostochny Bereg” (“Bering Seafood”). The company managed to eliminate the addition of chemicals to products due to a short production cycle – only 4 hours pass from fish catch to shock freezing. Thus, the consumer receives ecologically clean salmon and red caviar directly from the Bering Sea. The company “Vostochny Bereg” (“Bering Seafood”) has been operating in this region for more than 20 years. The quality of products is confirmed by many international awards – one of the latest “Best Product 2020” at the PRODEXPO international competition. Products are exported to 12 countries where consumers highly value salmon and red caviar “Vostochny Bereg” (“Bering Seafood“).
